Ack! I am so behind on blog posts! Things got a little crazy there for awhile with the fall and holiday busy season, but it’s winding down now and it’s time for me to catch up with blogging.

This is Reuben, a sweet older labradoodle. Reuben was such a trooper this day in September as he slowly made his way to each of the spots I had picked out for his session at Duranceau Park (by the new OSU boathouse). But he made it to each one and was a wonderful model. His person and I are both so glad we did this session when we did, because just a couple weeks after the session, Reuben sadly passed away. But he will always be remembered. This is why I feel it’s so important to have your four legged companions photographed professionally AT LEAST once in their life. They just aren’t with us very long, and that time passes so quickly, before we know it, it’s too late. And they leave such an impression on us for the rest of our lives, they deserve to be photographed and have their personality captured. Then, your memories of them will come to you more easily and you can remember them with happiness, not with sadness.

Ok, off my soapbox! Reuben, you will ALWAYS be remembered by your special personal for the wonderful dog you were.

Peanut and His People (Columbus OH Pet Photographer)

I met up with Peanut and his owners in the Short North the other day. We enjoyed this beautiful weather we have been having lately, although it was pretty windy. The high wind made it a little difficult to photograph a long-haired cutie like Peanut, but we managed. What a sweet fun couple A and S make! I really enjoyed the time I spent with all 3 of them.

Ferrum is a 1 year old Briard. As you can see, he is very very hairy! He got a lot of attention as we went about our photo shoot. I bet wherever his parents take him, people are oohing and ahing over him and asking “what kind of dog is that? He’s so beautiful!” We had this question once while we were at Highbanks park and had lots more stares! He is a stunning and unique looking dog! He was a little bit of a challenge to photograph. As a photographer, I know it’s all about the eyes. Well, with Ferrum, you can’t even see his eyes! So in the pre-session consult with his Mom I discussed this concern with her and she said she didn’t mind not being able to see his eyes because that is how he is. We determined that we would do some both ways, and we used a ponytail holder to get the hair out of his eyes for some shots. And I just want to add that Highbanks was absolutely gorgeous in it’s full fall splendor. I highly recommend going over there and taking a walk on one of the many nature trails they have. Please note, dogs are not allowed on the nature trails but they do have a trail specifically for dogs. Enjoy the photos and have a great day!

Hi everyone! I met Emilie and her mom at Wag! Fest and they signed up for a session. Emilie bred and raised these puppies herself and wanted to have photos to remember them, since they will be going to their new homes soon. I think that was a great idea! We’re also in the works to do some senior photos with her horse in the near future, so check back for an update!

Copper & Penny (Columbus Ohio Pet Photographer)

I headed over to Dublin for some pet portraits of the adorable Copper and Penny. Here is what their Mom had to say after seeing her photos: “We’ve been admiring the photo gallery of Penny and Copper. Rick and I think they look fantastic. Especially, the photos of Copper came out beautifully, despite the fact that he was so spooked by the whole process! We will have no problem choosing photos. Lots of them are stand-outs. Thanks for your patience with us and the dogs, and making the most of that cloudy day.” I love to make my clients happy!

WAG! Fest

I had a blast at WAG! Fest. By the end of the day I was exhausted and sunburnt but it was so fun. My favorite part was the disc demo by Southern Ohio Flying K-9′s. It makes me want to go get a Miniature Australian Shepherd and start us both in training! The dock diving was lots of fun too. There are so many water activities for the dogs at WAG! Fest. If you didn’t make it out this year, I recommend that you try to make it out next year. Your doggy will thank you for it!

SOS Calendar Update (Columbus Ohio pet photographer)

Voting to determine what pets are going to go in the 2012 SOS calendar is underway. Go here to cast your vote for your favorite(s). All winners also get great prizes, besides getting into the calendar. Votes are only $1 each with a 5 vote minimum purchase. All proceeds from the voting go to Shelter Outreach Services of Ohio, a low-cost spay/neuter clinic. SOS helps many rescues and shelters with spay/neuter and basic veterinary care for their adoptable animals, and many of the rescues could not do what they do without the services of SOS.
